Putney – Elegant Kitchen Remodel
Set on a leafy street in Putney, this project was a remodel of the kitchen in the house’s rear extension. Part of the room was narrow because of an internal dividing wall, so instead of working against it, we used it. The narrow section now leads into the extension, where the space opens out and the room feels as if it flows.
Storage was a priority. We fitted as many drawers as we could, along with shallow base units on the back of the island and pocket door units. The family has plenty of room to put things away, and the kitchen never feels crowded. We also took care to balance the cabinetry with the space around it, which keeps the room elegant and open.
For the worktops, the clients chose Taj Mahal quartzite. Its soft, warm veining sits well against the dark green matt lacquer cabinetry and adds to the calm feel of the whole kitchen.
The result is a calm, elegant kitchen, and it’s now where the family spends most of their time at home.
Words From This Home
Mioko and her team have done an amazing job in transforming our kitchen and utility space.
Their vision has transformed our space and created so much more storage, through solutions that are both beautiful and clever.
From start to finish, Mioko invested so much time, care and energy in sourcing different elements of the kitchen and making sure we were happy with every aspect of the design. The team and their brilliant fitters worked to find the best possible solutions throughout and worked seamlessly with our builders. They thought as carefully about our needs and the functionality of the kitchen, as they did about the design choices. As a result, we have ended up with a kitchen that we all love.
